Although originally from the Bay Area, Hawaii has always been home for Claudette. She has been part of the ALTRES Ohana for over 25 years and has been placing qualified candidates at Hawaii’s local businesses ever since!
How did you find your way into a career in the staffing industry/with ALTRES?
It really began when I was working for a dental consulting company. A large part of what I did and enjoyed most about the job was recruiting employees for various practices. After 8 years it was time to move on. I asked myself, ‘now what?’ I knew staffing was where I wanted to be. I worked for several staffing companies before landing at ALTRES.
What is your role at ALTRES? Describe a typical day on the job.
As Placement Manager and Executive Recruiter, I am the liaison between our clients and candidates. My job is to not only find candidates with the right skills for a position but to also find individuals who will fit with each client’s unique work culture and environment. I personally review resumes, interview candidates, and select the appropriate candidate testing. My goal is to form a long-lasting relationship between the client and the candidate.
What qualities or skills are essential to be a successful Placement Manager/Executive Recruiter?
As a specialist in the staffing industry, I am essentially the matchmaker of the business world. In order to successfully match the right person to a position, you must have strong intuition and decision-making skills. The primary function is to make business happen, so it’s important to be professional yet approachable.
Why should a company use a staffing company, like ALTRES?
It takes a lot of time, energy, and money to find a new employee. Companies often spread themselves too thin trying to juggle it all. We work directly with clients to find out what they’re looking for and use their requirements when searching for potential candidates. Placement Managers, like myself, have the experience and ability to do the searching so our clients can focus on running their business. All of our candidates are screened, qualified, tested, and reference checked before they are presented to our clients.
What are you most proud of? Do you have any success stories you’d like to share?
One of the things I enjoy most about my work is developing long-term relationships with both clients and candidates. It’s always rewarding to hear from the candidates and clients I’ve worked with over my 25 years in the industry. That’s what it’s all about for me.
