Medical Biller

We are looking for an experienced Medical Biller for a busy medical office in East Honolulu. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately billing patients, submitting claims to insurance companies, and working with patients to set up payment plans.

The ideal candidate will have their bachelor's degree and a solid understanding of billing software.

Hours

Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

Location

Kahala, Honolulu, Oahu

Pay

$19 to $20 an hour

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit billing data and medical claims to insurance companies.
• Ensure patient's medical information is accurate and up to date.
• Prepare bills and invoices, and document amounts due to medical procedures and services.
• Collect and review referrals and pre-authorizations.
• Monitor and record late payments.
• Follow up on missed payments and resolve financial discrepancies.
• Investigate and appeal denied claims.
• Help patients develop patient payment plans.
• Maintain billing software by updating rate change, cash spreadsheets, and current collection reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, health care administration, accounting, or relevant field.
• Knowledge of billing software and electronic medical records.
• Strong communication (verbal, written, interpersonal) skills. 
• Strong analytical, organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• COVID-19 vaccination required by client for this position. This is not an ALTRES Staffing requirement.
