Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the financial health of our organization by ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance.

The ideal candidate will their bachelor's degree, previous accounting experience with a non-profit, and 5 years of experience in GAAP financial record keeping.

Pay

$25 an hour

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and monitor all general ledger, balance sheet, and profit and loss accounts, making appropriate journal entries and adjustments as needed in QuickBooks.
  • Prepare and submit payroll timesheets for an outside payroll service provider.
  • Reconcile bank and investment accounts.
  • Account for and track all grant-related funding.
  • Calculate, process, and submit necessary taxes and forms, including general excise and 1099s.
  • Calculate, process, and submit necessary information related to temporary disability and work comp insurance.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, including balance sheet, profit & loss, and budget to actual comparison, along with other financial reports as requested.
  • Provide department managers with actual/to-date balances for their department accounts.
  • Assist the Executive Director with preparing and monitoring the annual budget.
  • Collaborate with an outside CPA to provide necessary documentation for tax form preparation.
  • Work with an outside auditor to provide necessary information for an annual audit and complete any subsequent required entries.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
  • Previous accounting experience with a non-profit organization.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in GAAP financial record keeping.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and QuickBooks.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Strong communication (verbal, written, interpersonal) skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
