Medical Facility Cook

A community medical facility is looking for an experienced Cook to join their team. In this role you will be responsible for food preparation, following pre-determined menus and recipes, and working with the kitchen helpers to ensure the line is running smoothly.

This position will last for a minimum of 12 weeks with the possibility of becoming permanent.

Hours

Full-time, Various Shifts/Hours: Sunday to Saturday, 5:00am-1:30pm or 9:30am-6:00pm

Location

Kealakekua, Big Island

Pay

$30 an hour

Responsibilities

• Review master menu to determine type and quantity of meat, vegetables, soup, salads and desserts to prepare for breakfast and lunch.
• Prepare modified diets under the direction of the supervisor.
• Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes using a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Oversee tray setting and salad making by the kitchen helper.
• Serve regular and modified/special dietary requirements meals for breakfast and lunch.
• Prepare and supervise washing and trimming of food items such as meats, vegetables, etc.
• Prepare (i.e., bake, roast, broil, steam, boil) meat, fish, vegetables and other foods.
• Prepare and bake various desserts when necessary.
• Perform general cleaning of kitchen equipment and kitchen.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a restaurant or kitchen required.
• Must have or able to obtain a valid Food Handler card for Hawaii.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
• Must be able to obtain a TB card.
